Chic Engagement Photos at Iconic Cocktail Bar

Ideal way to spend a weekday afternoon? Making my way around the city with a couple in love for their engagement photos. That’s exactly how I spent this particular afternoon on a gorgeous September day in Chicago for C&D’s engagement photos.

We started at Sparrow, a staple in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. The two love sharing a martini together, so this sophisticated, intimate cocktail bar was the perfect setting to kick of this couple’s engagement session. I am suchhh a huge fan of engagement sessions at bars and restaurants, especially chic spots like Sparrow with decor and mood lighting to perfectly fit the vibe.

Pro tip: Love the idea of a bar or engagement session as the location for your engagement photos? Call or email ahead to ensure 1) they allow photo sessions, 2) learn if there is a fee or specific guidelines that must be followed in order to book, 3) if there are certain hours you will be able to go - many places only allow sessions prior to opening so as not to disturb other patrons while photos are being taken.

After drinks, we headed down to River North to stroll along the streets near the L for a more city feel and to capture the essence of the place where these two met and fell in love. We ended in front of The Wellsley, with sleek black brick and marquee lights to bring home the chic city vibe.
